2 – What are the main regulations governing the placement and use of cookies?
Several European and national texts govern the use and placement of cookies. Although not exhaustive, the following list is intended to inform you about the main applicable regulations and, where appropriate, allow you to access and read these regulatory texts.
- Directive 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 July 2002 concerning the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector (ePrivacy Directive), as amended by Directive 2009/136/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 November 2009 amending Directive 2002/22/EC on universal service and users’ rights relating to electronic communications networks and services

This European regulation aims to ensure a high and consistent level of protection for natural persons and to remove obstacles to the flow of personal data within the European Union, while allowing EU Member States some discretion to clarify its rules
- French Law No. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 on information technology, files and civil liberties. This French law reflects the main principles of the above-mentioned regulation while providing rights and obligations specific to France regarding personal data protection, in accordance with the margins of discretion provided by the regulation. It also sets out the missions and powers of the CNIL (Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés)

3 – What is a cookie and which cookies are used and placed on this website?
A “cookie” is a small information file sent to the user’s browser and stored on the user’s device (e.g., computer, smartphone). Information stored by cookies includes, in particular, pages visited, the type of browser you use, your IP address, and even information you have entered on a site in order to avoid re-entering it. Cookies cannot damage the user’s device. They are created for a limited period when a user’s browser loads a given website: the site sends information to the browser, which then creates a text file. Each time the user returns to the same site, the browser retrieves this file and sends it to the website’s server.
Cookies may be session cookies, stored in your browser only during your browsing session, i.e., until you leave the site, and deleted thereafter.
Some of them may also be persistent: they remain in your browser after the session (unless you specifically delete them).
Our use of cookies may be based on our legitimate interest: they are intended to ensure the proper functioning of the site.
By exception, certain cookies will only be placed with your consent, in accordance with CNIL recommendations.
We have classified our cookies into two main categories as follows:
- Cookies exempt from consent. These are cookies that enable the proper functioning of the site. They may include trackers for user interface customization (for example, language choice or presentation of a service) where such customization is an intrinsic and expected element of the service. They may also include storing your cookie choices. For this reason, if you refuse the storage of cookies on your device or delete those stored there, your browsing and experience on the site europe.forum-incyber.com may be degraded.
- Audience measurement and statistical analysis cookies, enabling statistical or performance tracking to understand site performance, establish statistics, traffic volumes, and content usage (time spent on the site, etc.). They require your consent because they are not strictly necessary for the provision of the service.
